BIOPROTEIN TECHNOLOGIES APPOINTS GUY DE MARTYNOFF AS CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
BioProtein Technologies extends in-house expertise in protein production and purification

Paris, France… BioProtein Technologies, the French biotechnology company specialising in the production of therapeutic proteins in the milk of transgenic rabbits, announced today the recruitment of Dr Guy de Martynoff as Chief Operating Officer. Dr de Martynoff will be responsible for the coordination of the Company’s internal research programmes run in collaboration with the French Agronomy Research Institute, INRA. BioProtein Technologies has a privileged partnership with INRA, which provides the Company with exclusive access to intellectual property, know-how transfer and logistical support, such as laboratory space and staff resources.

Dr de Martynoff has more than twenty years experience in the field of protein production and purification within biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. This includes time in industry and academia including the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) of Heidelberg, Paris, and Amsterdam. He has a strong scientific background in molecular biology (cloning, mutagenesis), cell biology (culture of mammalian cells), immunology (production of monoclonal antibodies) and biochemistry. Prior to joining BioProtein Technologies, Dr de Martynoff was Project Manager at Eurogentec SA, Belgium, where he was in charge of the production and the purification of proteins for diagnostic, vaccine and therapeutic purposes.

Marc Le Bozec, Chairman and CEO of BioProtein Technologies commented: “We are pleased to welcome Guy to BioProtein Technologies. His expertise in the production of therapeutic proteins as well as his knowledge of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry will be of great value into further developing BioProtein Technologies’s activities in the production of recombinant proteins. I am confident that Guy will provide the insight and the leadership needed to provide our customers with the highest standard in recombinant protein production and transgenic animal generation.”

About BioProtein Technologies
www.bioprotein.com
BioProtein Technologies is the world leader in the production of recombinant proteins in the milk of transgenic rabbits. The company’s unique contract manufacturing capabilities have been designed to meet the increasing demands of the pharmaceutical and the biotechnology industries for therapeutic protein production. Rabbits offer great advantages in terms of scale-up and time-to-market and can produce up to 6-8 litres of milk per year. From the annual production of 400 rabbits, 5-10 kg of protein can be isolated and purified to a very high quality.BioProtein Technologies has a strong expertise through the entire manufacturing process from genes or cDNA expression to animal production. The Company is using high quality science, for example from INRA, as the foundation for building BioProtein Technologies into a world leading producer of therapeutic proteins. The Company has produced complex and difficult-to-express proteins, including monoclonal antibodies, hormones and vaccinating antigens, all of which demonstrates BioProtein Technologies’ ability to fulfil the most rigorous specifications in protein production.
As a corporation, Bioprotein Technologies recognizes that it has a specific responsibility towards the animals that it generates and breeds for the production of therapeutic proteins. The Company conducts its animal research and development according to the highest ethical standards.
The Company was founded in 1998 and successfully completed its first € 8 million financial round in May 2001.
